Jess Reynolds - Farmer, farmer's wife, farmer's daughter, Adelong NSW
My picture of the struggle in farmer mental health is:
The harder times when I have too many tabs open and not enough time to finish jobs. Managing isn't easy when your mental health takes over. But owning that is it real and it is ok, has challenged me to understand, accept and explain what happens when rock bottom comes to get you.
Some of the glimmer/joyful moments that reflect farmer mental health for me:
After a tough run, I know my family and husband will be there to support me. But it's the village of friends I can call and rely on. Be it watching local rugby or a fire bucket in winter or a day waterskiing and camping in summer just having people around, they let me rise back up to feel me again.
A little more about Jess:
Recently diagnosed with ADHD and depression, I want women to know it's OK to feel different and it's OK to talk about what is happening. I work with my family on our Angus stud and it's hard but also the most rewarding job, and is all worth it, when i get to come home to hubby and 4 girls, and show them that hard times happen but supporting each other is the best anyone can do to help.
